| THE PUMP TODAY
The Aldgate Pump today is a blend of the old and the new. Of indoors and outdoors. Of fine dining and fine wine. Of cold beer and gaming. Part history and exciting future.
Bistro Bar

Join us in the Bistro Bar and Dining area – the heart of the Pump. With intimate booths and tables to seat over 120, the Bistro is the place to be seen during the week for lunch or dinner – and particularly on Sunday afternoons during winter, when couples, friends and families gather for warming food and fine Adelaide Hills wines. It’s been said that if you’ve never done lunch at the Pump on a Sunday, you’re not South Australian.
The Pump Outdoors

In summer the greeting is just as warm, but the setting can be delightfully cool under the Aldgate elms in a refurbished beer garden the envy of other hills’ hostelries. A perfect getaway from the heat of the Adelaide Plains. Do what the colonialists did – head for the hills – and The Pump – to escape the heat of summer.
The Bullockies Bar

You probably won’t find a Bullock Whip in the Front Bar of The Pump these days, but they used to stand by the front door as their owners slaked their thirst after a hard day’s drive from Adelaide. The Pump outside gave cool respite to their beasts of burden, while inside a pint of draught off the kegs satisfied all comers. Some 60,000 people would pass by this point every year in the early days. In this bar, the stories of hardship would be told, embellished by The Pump’s finest libations. Nothing’s changed. Tell your stories over a pint here too.
Party Party!

The Pump has hosted many a ‘knees up’ over the years, some of the most extravagant in its colonial heyday when it was reputed to have “the finest chandeliers in all the colony”.
Step back to the colonial era downstairs in the wood-lined Function Room abutting the Bistro – an area which can be closed off from the rest of the hotel to provide an intimate ‘Gentleman’s Lounge’ style setting for 60 seated diners. With a fireplace and walls lined with historic photographs, this is a great place for your next important event.
More contemporary party rooms are upstairs, where, overlooking the modern village of Aldgate, you can party to your heart’s content. These rooms have a thoroughly modern feel and access the balcony – perfect for taking in the views of local events, such as the Tour Down Under, when it passes by.
